Sheila Morago is a seasoned professional with an impressive track record in Tribal Government Gaming, boasting over 30 years of experience in the industry. Recently serving as the Executive Director of the Oklahoma Indian Gaming Association (OIGA), Sheila played a pivotal role in overseeing the operations of the association. Her responsibilities include managing the office, facilitating discussions on policy and regulation of Tribal Gaming with the 27 member Tribes, and organizing the largest regional gaming tradeshow in the country.
Prior to her role at OIGA, Sheila held the position of Executive Director at the Arizona Indian Gaming Association (AIGA) for eight years. During her tenure, she spearheaded successful negotiations with the State that led to the establishment of the 2003 Tribal-State Compacts. Sheila's expertise extends to managing political and public relations for both Tribal and Non-Tribal clients, having served as the Vice President of National Relations at a private firm. In this capacity, she acted as the key liaison between campaign staff, casino operators, and 17 Tribes, orchestrating the execution of campaign plans and voter outreach for the Statewide ballot initiative - Arizonans for Fair Gaming & Indian Self-Reliance.
Sheila's diverse experience also includes working as the Director of Public Relations for the National Indian Gaming Association (NIGA), where she played a pivotal role in developing political advertising programs, public information materials, press releases, articles, letters to the editor, speeches, and congressional testimony for NIGA Chairman and Executive Committee members. Sheila kickstarted her career in gaming as the Director of Marketing for the Gila River Casinos, showcasing her versatility and adaptability within the industry.
